Support Yourself in Extreme Heat Weather
Southwestern Pennsylvania and much of the country is experiencing unusually high temperatures this week and we are all feeling the effects. This yoga practice focuses on supporting our bodies during times of extreme heat. When it's hot, our heart must work extra hard to cool us down and blood and lymphatic fluids pool in our extremities. Swollen ankles and feet anyone? Positions in the body that place the legs above the heart (inversions) encourage circulatory and lymphatic drainage and support our joint health. This practice is not full of headstands and handstands, but rather accessible poses for all levels of practitioners so that we can all reap the benefits. However, there is an opportunity to practice headstand if you want! Have two blocks ready for this practice.
